Pete Weishan has been coaching basketball at Salamanca High School in Section 6 for the past 44 years. He coached Boys Varsity Basketball for 33 years until he retired from teaching. In retirement,  he has continued to coach Girls Varsity Basketball and Boys JV Basketball. Pete has 423 varsity victories and 516 total wins with eight Section 6 Finals and eight League Championships. He also coached the only regular season undefeated team (20-0) in Salamanca school history and was the Big 30 Coach of the Year in 1997-98. Pete was a member of the Section 6 Basketball Committee for 30 years. He was selected to the Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame, and helped direct many Summer Basketball Camps in the area. He was also Athletic Director at Salamanca for 25 years and coached many other sports.
