Gerald Wilcox, 2006

West Genesee HS, Liverpool HS (Section 3)

 

Coach Wilcox coached his teams to 411 wins with a .704 winning percentage over twenty-seven seasons. His teams won eight Section 3 titles and were finalists 12 times. In addition they won three Regional crowns. Coach Wilcox was the first Central Region Scholastic Coach for the NYS Empire State Games. He coached in the games for 5 years with his team medaling in each year. Coach Wilcox has organized numerous basketball leagues, camps and clinics for recreation programs for the towns of Camillus and Clay.

As Commissioner of Parks and Recreation for the City of Syracuse, he founded the A.C.T.I.O.N. leagues to help break down tensions between ethnic/religious and political groups. (Activities Central to Improving Our Neighborhoods) Coach Wilcox has served as Coach/Administrator/Director for the Sports Programs at N.Y. State Fair. Coach Wilcox has won many Coach of the Year Awards. He was inducted into the Bishop Ludden and the Greater Syracuse Sports Halls of Fame and won the Monsignor Taylor Award.
